Soundstage was a new design archetype introduced to Philips' home cinema category. The crossbow HTL5130B soundstage loudspeaker was designed to deliver powerful sound to enhance your TV experience. It featured an innovative sound concept: "WaveFlector Technology," which produced a wide, natural, and immersive sound for movie and music enjoyment.
The concept of the waveflector was to deliver an immersive cinematic sound by aiming speakers towards the waveflector surfaces installed on both sides of the soundstage, reflecting sound. Angled speakers placed in the center beamed the sound onto both sides of the articulated sound reflection surface and bounced outward to create a wide range of sound projection.
Different from the XS1 soundstage, a full relief pattern was sculpted on the top surface of the crossbow Soundstage. The story of the graphical relief aimed to mimic sound traveling onto the sound reflector surface and bouncing outward in all directions. As a result, crisscrossing wavy lines of the sound wave pattern created a beautiful drawing that dressed over the top of the Soundstage. Two bass ports were designed and blended towards the back on each side. The external flare surfaces were crafted to fit harmoniously into the surroundings. Besides offering immersive sound for the TV, a full range of connectivity features were installed, providing pleasure for all-round home entertainments. A strip of silicone rubber controls was clustered and placed on the right side for ease of use.
